Trigos Lower Austria 2017 Award

Umdasch Group

17.05.2017 | The Umdasch Group is proud of winning a very special prize: the TRIGOS Lower Austria Award. The Group has won this prestigious honour for its dedicated social and ecological commitment.

The TRIGOS Lower Austria Award brings to centre-stage businesses that are models of corporate social responsibility and successfully implement sustainability in their corporate strategy. From the 40 companies nominated for the award, four winners were chosen. The Umdasch Group accepted the TRIGOS Lower Austria Award in the Large Companies category at a gala reception held on May 16 in the town of Krems on the River Danube.

The Umdasch Foundation, an initiative launched in 2015, earned the Umdasch Group this accolade. The Foundation concerns itself with education, economics and ethics in the entrepreneurial context. Active all over the world, it advocates equality in education and opportunities. The Foundation's refugee project was singled out for special praise: Since 2016, some 600 asylum seekers working in the 'Haus Erdberg' centre in Vienna have been turning formwork sheets into great furniture. The materials are provided free by Doka. The refugees have new prospects.

Another strong point was the Umdasch Group's success in saving upwards of three million driving kilometres per year. Every day, 70 company buses carry 450 employees to work in the morning and home again in the evening.

This is the fifth time that the annual TRIGOS Lower Austria prize has been awarded. Sponsorship for the awards program has a broad base in commerce and society at large. On national level, 2017 will see the TRIGOS Austria prizes awarded for the fourteenth time. Some 200 names have been submitted, and the winners will be announced on 19 June 2017. The Umdasch Group is one of six nominees in the "Overall CSR Commitment – Large Companies" category.
