Umdasch Nest

The Umdasch Nest will serve as a modern day care centre for the offspring of employees

22.07.2015 | The Umdasch Group is setting up an in-house childcare facility for babies of company employees. The new building is under way next to the headquarters and once completed will offer space for 15 kids. Up to four teachers from the Lower Austrian Charitable Organization [Niederösterreichisches Hilfswerk] will take care of children still too young to attend nursery school.

UMDASCH NEST – DAYCARE CENTRE FOR OUR LITTLE ONES

For some time there have been discussions about an in-house day care centre for the offspring of company employees. "With more than 2,200 employees at the Amstetten site, there is a definite need for all-day pre-kindergarten childcare", so Dr. Andreas Ludwig. "Once they return to their jobs right after parental leave, we want to offer young mothers and fathers a day care centre located right next to their workplace."
Babies are taken care of throughout the day. The focus is on playing together and age-appropriate learning. A large garden with a playground provides lots of room for the little ones to romp around. Another important focal point is healthy nutrition: every day there will be a freshly cooked lunch. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 6 PM.

ECO-FRIENDLY CONSTRUCTION

The family-owned company has long placed high value on sustainability. This integral aspect of the company culture is also expressed in the construction of the Umdasch Nest. Features such as a high-performing solar system for in-house power supply, connection to district-heating with biomass, use of rainwater as well as eco-friendly building materials represent the state-of-the-art in environmental engineering for residential building construction. As a result of these commitments, the day care facility will be a certified "GreenBuilding".

Its completion is planned for the end of 2015; childcare operations at the new Umdasch Nest will start at the beginning of 2016.

Kids of Umdasch employees were able to gather first impressions of the future day care centre during the ground-breaking festivities.

The ceremony was held in July 2015.

The ground floor offers approximately 150 m² usable space and accommodates a lounge, bedroom and cafeteria with a built-in kitchen. The second floor is slated for employee apartments.
